This can lead to health problems when the process of creating, storing and delivering energy becomes out of balance.

Stand up More

You can improve your metabolism by simply standing more. It is partly because prolonged periods of sitting can lead to weight gain and a lower calorie burning.

A 2018 review found that standing at work or stepping was associated with lower levels of weight and body fat. It was also linked to lower systolic/diastolic pressure, total/HDL and fasting triglycerides. Standing produced a greater reduction in systolic and diastolic bloodpressure, insulin resistance, and total/HDL cholesterol.

If you sit at a desk, try standing up every now and then to reduce the amount of time you are seated. You can also buy a standing desk, or go for a walk during the day.
